Social media gave AG Garland a rude send-off after the viral video of him leaving the DOJ

The attorney general was a regular target of conservatives and GOP leaders who called him corrupt during the four years of the Biden administration.
Critics accused Garland of arming the department against President-elect Donald Trump after the official launched an investigation into Trump’s handling of classified records that included the Mar-a-Lago raid. Garland admitted that he “personally authorized” the raid.
Conservatives have criticized Garland over his department’s treatment of Catholics in multiple cases — in one, GOP lawmakers accused the DOJ of refusing “to bring justice” after attacks on Catholic churches following the reversal of Roe v. Wade in 2022.
Garland was also grilled at a congressional hearing over Catholics allegedly targeted by the FBI.

His DOJ attacked political opponents. His DOJ the unprecedented weaponized shameful era of brazen political law is FINALLY OVER.”
Republican communications adviser Matt Whitlock called Garland “one of the biggest disappointments in recent political history.”
He added, “Garland went from being the head of the DC Circuit to being an illegal political hack for the dark money groups that controlled the Biden White House. The guy sent the FBI on parents for speaking at school board meetings.”

Gov. Ron DeSantis, R-Fla., press secretary Jeremy Redfern raged the attorney general, declaring, “I never thought we’d see anyone do more damage to the credibility of the DoJ than Eric Holder, but then Merrick Garland happened.”
Rep. Kevin Hern, R-Okla., condemned the official, saying, “Merrick Garland presided over the vicious weaponization of the federal government against the American people. He has caused irreparable damage to the institution. Kudos.”
Conservative columnist Tim Young blasted DOJ staff for applauding Garland in the video of his departure.
“Fire all but one DOJ employee applauding Merrick Garland. If you can root for him, you should have ZERO influence on the justice system in this country once Trump takes office,” he wrote.
Federalist CEO Sean Davis also hit out at staff applauding him, saying: “Identify and fire anyone in the photos applauding Garland or crying over his departure.”
Babylon Bee editor-in-chief Joel Berry agreed with Davis, replying, “Just fire them all. Empty them completely.”
