‘View’ co-host praises Michelle Obama for skipping inauguration
“The View” co-hosts Sunny Hostin and Joy Behar praised former first lady Michelle Obama decision to skip Inauguration of President-elect Donald Trump on Monday.
Hostin was delighted with the move and argued that it was only right for the former first lady to get involved with Trump.
“I think when they go low, you have to meet that energy and maybe go even lower, get as small as an ant and go to the earth’s crust,” Hostin told her co-hosts on Friday, putting a new spin on Obama’s famous quote, “When they go low, we go high.”

The source is close former first lady told People Magazine this week that Obama will not attend the inauguration.
“There is no overestimating her feelings [Trump]. She’s not one to put on a nice face and pretend for protocol,” the source said, adding, “Michelle doesn’t do anything because it’s expected or it’s protocol or it’s tradition.”
Longtime allies of the former first lady told The Hill they believe her decision to leave was an act of defiance against Trump.
“She meant every word she said on the campaign trail with every fiber of her being,” one source told the newspaper. – And he is not a hypocrite.
Obama attacked Trump throughout the 2024 presidential campaign, and in her speech at the Democratic National Convention this year, she blasted the incoming president for his “ugly, misogynistic, racist lies.”
Despite his wife’s absence, former President Barack Obama will still attend the ceremony alongside former presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush and their wives.

When Behar opened the show by announcing Obama’s no-show and asked if it was the right move, Hostin said, “Yes, God, she’s so right. She’s so right.”
Hostin then played the clip Obama at last year’s DNCwhere she blasted Trump for doing “everything in his power to try to make people fear” her and her husband.
“And I think when you see that, you understand why she wouldn’t go,” Hostin added.
Co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin said it’s fine if Michelle Obama doesn’t attend the inauguration because she’s not a government person. She argued that Rep. Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., should not skip because she is still “the leader among the Democrats” and that it is about showing that “the country is still moving forward.”
Co-host Sara Haines agreed with Griffin, adding that Democratic leaders should at least be at the event to set a good example and be above political games.

Co-host Ana Navarro noted that Pelosi could be excused from participating given her age and that she is recently injured his hip.
Behar, on the other hand, wondered why more leaders aren’t planning to walk away from the inauguration like Obama did.
“I just want to say, this is not a normal inauguration. This is not a normal person. He’s a convicted felon. Why are they going as if this is a normal inauguration? It’s not,” she said.
Haines shot back, saying, “Because of the weakness it represents to the damn world when you have presidents who say, ‘Just because we’re not this’ — America voted.”
“The normalization of President Trump happened when the American public got out, voted and elected him,” Haines said.
