MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell raves about Biden’s ‘magical’ achievement
MSNBC host Lawrence O’Donnell gave President Biden high praise for his accomplishments while in office, including signing the $1.2 trillion infrastructure bill.
“Listen, I said you’re never going to get an infrastructure bill,” O’Donnell told Biden in the final interview of his presidency published on Thursday. “With my legislative experience, because I worked in the Senate, I didn’t see how that was possible with this small, smallest majority in the Senate in history. To this day, it looks like a magic trick to me, how you pulled it off.”
Biden’s Infrastructure Investments and Jobs Act, signed into law on November 15, 2021, directed billions of dollars to ecological projectsincluding the advancement of clean energy through public transportation and environmental cleanup.
BIDEN CHANGED ALMOST 2,500 SENTENCES IN THE LAST DAYS OF THE PRESIDENCY
“Well, look at the argument I made to the congressmen [and] The senators who came down is, how can you run the world without the most modern infrastructure in the world?” Biden said.
“You’ve combined domestic policy and foreign policy in a way I’ve never heard another president do,” O’Donnell told Biden.
“Well, by the way, because it’s necessary,” replied the president. “There’s no way we can carry out our foreign policy unless we’re, in terms of our economic policy, in a strong position to do it. Look, Lawrence, you’re one of the most informed people I know. I’m not looking for—well, I shouldn’t say that either hurt your reputation, but kidding aside, think about it, if we don’t run the world?” Biden said.
“What’s going on? I don’t mean to dominate,” he continued. “I mean run the world on basic, fundamental principles like the UN charter, those kinds of — who’s stepping up, who’s got the capacity to do it? We’ve got the size, we’ve got the scope, we’ve got the capability, we’ve got the technology. But we just have to get back in the game. And that’s all I really did.”
