Mikel Arteta confirms Arsenal’s stance on striker transfer following Gabriel Jesus’ injury

Mikel Arteta has confirmed that Arsenal are looking for a new striker in the remaining two weeks of January transfer window.

Gunners are weak in attack count after a few serious attacks injuries. Arteta earlier admitted a new signing might be needed after Bukayo Saka was ruled out for three months with a knee injury, before Ethan Nwaneri picked up the problem and Gabriel Jesus he suffered a severe ACL injury for the weekend.

WITH Arsenal now working with just four strikers – Kai Havertz, Leandro Trossard, Gabriel Martinelli and Raheem Sterling – Arteta has confirmed there are plans to sign a new striker before the end of the month.

“Yes, for sure because we lost two big players – Bukayo could be out for three months and Gabby will also be out for a long time,” Arteta said TNT Sports when asked if a new signature is possible. “We’ll try for sure. We’re actively looking.

“We lost two very important players, we have 14 players in the squad and we play every three days. So we will try and see what we can get.”

Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak is believed to be Arteta’s dream target but The Magpies’ £150m price tag will almost certainly end any faint hopes of a move this month.

RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko, Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyokeres and Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo have been linked with moves to the Emirates Stadium.
