Fox News Channel aired the 400 most-watched cable news shows in December
Fox News Channel was home to 400 most watched cable news among total viewers during the month of December.
The Dec. 9 edition of “The Five” was the top cable newscast of the month with 4.4 million total viewers. Other episodes of “The Five,” starring Greg Gutfeld, Jesse Watters, Dana Perino, Jeanine Pirro and rotating co-hosts Jessica Tarlov and Harold Ford Jr., occupied much of the top 20, along with the December 3 and 4 editions. from “Jesse Watters Tonight”.
Specific episodes of “Special Report with Bret Baier,” “The Ingraham Angle,” “Gutfeld!,” “Hannity,” “Outnumbered,” “America Reports” with Sandra Smith and John Roberts, “The Story” with Martha MacCallum, ” The Faulkner Focus,” “America’s Newsroom” with Dan Perino and Bill Hemmer, “Your World,” “Sunday Morning Futures with Mario Bartiromo,” “FOX & Friends,” “FOX & Friends Weekend,” “Fox News @ Night,” “The Big Weekend Show,” “Life, Liberty and Levin,” “One Nation with Brian Kilmeade,” Howard Kurtz’s MediaBuzz, Fox News Live,” and other FNC programs they all also beat anything CNN or MSNBC had to offer.
The most-watched non-Fox News program airing on cable news during December was MSNBC’s “The Rachel Maddow Show,” which had 1.4 million total viewers on Dec. 9 and finished as the 401st program.
CNN’s top-rated program was the Dec. 9 edition of “CNN News Central,” which averaged 700,000 viewers and ranked No. 682 among cable news episodes.
Fox News has regularly dominated cable news ratings, but the Top 400 win is seen as a unique milestone that shines a spotlight on MSNBC and CNN’s struggle to capture audiences following President-elect Donald Trump’s victory.

Fox News Channel dominated the competition in 2024, finishing the year with the highest share of cable news viewers since 2015. FNC averaged 1.5 million total daily viewers and 2.4 million during primetime to top all cable options and finish in first place in both categories for nine consecutive years.
