Arsenal have made a bid for a “world-class” ace who could become their own Kane
For all legendary and successful stars who wore red and white Arsenal over the years, from Thierry Henry to Liam Brady, the club has also had its fair share of bogey players.
These are the opposing players who had the sense to score against the Gunners and made life miserable for their fans.
For example, Chelsea legend Didier Drogba is known to have loved playing against the North Londoners, as has Liverpool’s Roberto Firmino, but without a doubt, the striker who has been Arsenal’s biggest thorn in the side for years has been Harry Kane.
Former Tottenham Hotspur the star scored 14 goals against the club while playing for the Lilywhites, and although he left the country entirely in 2023, he returned with Bayern Munich last season and added another to his tally in the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
Ironically, given the Gunners’ current slump in form, the Walthamstow-born marksman is exactly the type of player they need, but despite not being available this month, recent reports have linked the club with another striker who has been compared to the 31-year-old.
Arsenal transfer news
According to a recent report from Football TransfersArsenal are one of several parties interested in the Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic.
The report goes a step further, revealing that the North Londoners have already seen an offer to take the player on loan until the end of the season rejected by the Old Lady.
However, reports from earlier this month claimed that the Italian giant had made an offer to the Serbian striker Topnik for only 55 million euroswhich is around £46m, and given the story claims they haven’t ruled out a return for him in this window, that’s a fee that seems achievable.
All in all, Arsenal may just have to pony up the cash to sign Vlahovic this month, but given his ability, that may not be such a bad thing, especially as he has drawn comparisons to the sensational Kane this season.
How does Vlahovic compare to Kane and why Arsenal should sign him
So before we look at how Vlahovic has fared this season and why Arsenal should sign him this month, let’s look at this Kane comparison and where it came from.
It primarily derived from FBrefwho compares players in similar positions in the Champions League this season, then creates a list of the ten most comparable players for each one, and in this case concluded that the Englishman is the tenth most similar striker to the Serb.
We can better understand how we came to this conclusion by looking at the underlying metrics the pair rank in, including but not limited to expected non-penalty goals plus assists, actual assists, progressive passes and carries, rebounds and more, all at 90.

On top of the fundamental similarities, the two have also been equally effective in Europe’s biggest competition, with the former Spurs star five goals and one assist in 450 minutes to the ace of Juve four goals and one assist in just 401 minutes.
With all that said, it’s that ability in front of goal that, aside from comparisons to the Englishman, should convince Arsenal to splash the cash on the former Fiorentina star this month.
For example, in just 23 appearances in all competitions this season, the “world-class” scorer, as dubbed by journalist Siavoush Fallahihe found the end of the net 12 times and two assists for good measure.
This means that Dinamo, born in Belgrade, scores an average goal every 1.64 games, which is for the Juventus team slumping to fifth place and struggling to create chances this season, he’s really quite impressive.
Ultimately, while he may not be the first name on most fans’ wishlists this month, Vlahovic is a brilliant striker, and given the reported fee, it appears to be a complete no-brainer for an Arsenal squad crying out for a goal number nine.
