British anti-corruption minister Tulip Siddiq resigns Reuters
LONDON (Reuters) – British financial services and anti-corruption minister Tulip Siddiq resigned on Tuesday after weeks of questions about her financial ties to her aunt Sheikh Hasina, who was ousted as Bangladesh prime minister last year.
In her letter of resignation to Prime Minister Keir Starmer, she said the independent adviser on ministerial standards, Laurie Magnus, had confirmed she had not broken ministerial rules after reviewing the case.
In a letter to Siddique released by his office, Starmer said: “In accepting your resignation, I also want to be clear that Sir Laurie Magnus as Independent (LON:) The adviser assured me that he found no violation of the ministerial code and no evidence of financial irregularities on your part.”
