In 2024, a baggage handler who said he worked for Dublin Airport told Irish news organization RSVP Live that passengers should not tie ribbons to their bags because it could “cause confusion in the scanning process”.
Fox News Digital has reached out to Dublin Airport for comment.
A spokesperson for the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) told Fox News Digital that he doesn’t see a problem with attaching the ribbons to checked bags, but acknowledges that they could get stuck in the conveyor belt, “so ribbons or labels might be a better way to mark the bag for quick identification at the passengers’ destinations.”
