California wildfires: Heidi Montag soars to No. 1 on iTunes after losing Pacific Palisades at home

Reality stars Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt may have lost their beloved Pacific Palisades to the devastating wildfires in California that continue to ravage the city of Los Angeles, but they certainly haven’t lost their fans.

In an effort to support the pair, fans catapulted Montag’s debut album, released in 2010, to the top of the iTunes charts, where it secured the number one spot for both song and album at the time of release.

On Friday, days after his home burned to the ground, Pratt acknowledged that interest in his wife’s music is growing. “Best news I’ve had in a week – which isn’t saying much. Thanks to everyone watching Montag’s album, ‘Superficial.’ First time ever, currently in the top 50 on iTunes,” he told his loyal TikTok followers.

When the album was released 15 years ago, the second single, “Superficial,” did not chart.

Hours after his first TikTok video, the album shot to No. 2 on the iTunes chart, much to Pratt’s delight. “Anyone who hasn’t gone to iTunes, do it now. We’re going to No. 1,” Pratt enthused. “We’ll get a screenshot, she’ll be a famous pop star when her kids grow up. She’ll be in the history books,” he joked. “They won’t know it’s because our house burned down and we have nothing and people are just trying to support us. They’ll just say, ‘Wow! My mom was pop superstar it was No. 1 on the charts.'”

“Let’s be clear. If I seem like the most relentless person to crash on this whole app, I am. Let’s just get this damn straight. I’m freaking out,” he said to the camera, admitting all he could think about were all the reckless purchases which he has made over the years. “I’m hanging in here, because I have two kids and I want them to fucking go to college and have a fucking life, okay? So this is crashing at its best, OK?”

In another video, Pratt said, “I’ve been ‘faking it ’til you make it’ since 2007. Guess what? Fake it ’til you make it, it doesn’t work. Especially when it burns down.”

Last week, Montag and Pratt confirmed that their multi-million dollar Pacific Palisades home was destroyed in a fire. Some of the first celebrities to announce they were evacuated, the couple were able to see the destruction of their home in real time, thanks to security cameras on the property.

According to the Californian Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, Palisade Fire contains only 11%. The Eaton and Hurst fires continue to burn, although the latter is 89% contained.
