Harry Kane has great recognition for the Ballon d’Or

Bayern Munich forward Harry Kane has revealed his long-held ambitions to win the Ballon d’Or and insisted he is a “credible candidate” to win the prestigious award in 2025.

Despite cementing his reputation as one of the the biggest strikers in the worldbecoming the all-time top goalscorer for Tottenham Hotspur and the England national team, Kane infamously never won a single team trophy in his professional career.

Second place in Premier League and at each of the last two European Championships, Kane’s debut campaign at Bayern Munich coincided with the club’s first trophyless season in more than a decade. An empty cabinet had little to do with Kane’s performances.

The England international scored 44 goals in 45 games for his new employers, ensuring that handed out the Gerd Muller trophy with Kylian Mbappe at the 2024 Ballon d’Or in Paris.

“This trophy confirms my career choice, to leave my country for the first time at the age of 30,” Kane said recently L’Equipe in an exclusive interview. “And that allowed me to come to the Ballon d’Or ceremony at the Theater du Chatelet for the first time to attend the presentation of all those prestigious awards.

“Hopefully, maybe I can come back and win an even more prestigious one,” Kane added with a wink and a smile.

When asked if he ever thought about the possibility of winning the Ballon d’Or, The Bayern the number nine was emphasized. – Of course I’m thinking about it! he stated. “And, why not say, I believe it. I feel my performances make me a credible candidate.

“I keep improving, playing in teams, whether it’s Bayern or England, who are natural candidates for big wins. So with my individual performances and a big collective win like Champions Leaguewhy couldn’t I believe in my chances?”

Bayern are well placed to win this year’s Bundesliga, ending Kane’s long wait for collective silverware. Although the Bavarians have not been so successful on the continent, they are expected to qualify for the knockout stage and remain one of main contenders for the title.

“I dreamed about Golden ball from a young age,” continued Kane, who is trying to emulate Michael Owen’s feat in 2001 as the last Englishman to win the award, “and even more so with the Lionel Messi-Cristiano Ronaldo period that gave this generation even more brilliance.

“Who knows if we will see each other again in 2025 for another interview?” Kane concluded with a laugh.
