Dem Senator Warns ‘LA Fires Are a Harbinger of Crimes to Come’, Claims Trump Bought ‘Big Oil’
As wildfires ravage California, Sen. Ed MarkeyD-Mass., claimed in a post on X that the disaster is “what a climate emergency looks like.” He took aim at President-elect Trump, claiming that the future president has been bought by the oil industry.
“Trump was bought for $1 billion by Big Oil. Just a payoff to kill the IRA and the Green New Deal. We know what’s going to happen. More fires, more climate disasters, more deaths. The LA fires are a preview of the crimes to come,” Markey said in a post on X.
Markey, who claims there is a “climate crisis,” also warned of the possible effects artificial intelligence (AI).
He suggested that the increasing use of artificial intelligence could result in “a doubling of data center electricity demand by 2026”, “increased carbon emissions”, “water shortages” and “e-waste”.
“We are already facing a climate crisis. We cannot allow artificial intelligence to make it worse,” Markey warned.
