SEOUL, South Korea, January 11, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — As 2025 begins, K-Defense is expanding to Latin America has entered a new phase.

HD Hyundai Heavy Industries (KS:) (HD HHI) held a launch ceremony for Peru warship project on January 10 in SIMA, the state shipyard in Peru.

The ceremony marked the start of the construction of four ships: a frigate, an offshore patrol ship and an amphibious landing ship, which will serve as key strategic assets for Peruvian Navy. The event included steel-cutting and keel-laying ceremonies, marking the official start of construction.

Peru’s President Dina Boluarte, Prime Minister Gustavo Adrianzén Olaya, Minister of Defense Walter Astudillocommander of the navy Luis Jose Polar Figariand other high government officials attended the event Joo Won-hothe head off Business unit for marine and special vessels in HD HHI.

This strategy includes forming partnerships, building localized shipbuilding systems and standardizing technology transfer packages in key regions, including Peru, Philippines, Saudi Arabiaand United States.
