In the opening match of the tournament SA20 2025, MI Cape Town (MICT) opposite Sunrisers Eastern Cape (SEC) at St George’s Park, Gqeberha, and provided the fans with a thrilling spectacle. Among the highlights of the match was MI Cape Town’s outstanding six Dewald Brevis, which not only wowed the crowd but also earned a lucky fan a life-changing $2 million prize.

In the eighth over of the MI Cape Town innings, Sunrisers Eastern Cape’s Simon Harmer was assigned to bowl to Brevisa. What followed was a remarkable display of batting power. Harmer dropped a short ball onto the stumps but Brevis, demonstrating his exceptional timing, got deep into the crease and pulled the ball to mid-wicket. The ball soared an incredible 82 meters before landing in the hands of a fan sitting in the crowd.
This is not just any catch, thanks to a special rule introduced by Betway, the official sponsor of SA20 2025, the fan who caught the ball was awarded $2 million in prize money. The fan, wearing a Sunrisers shirt, made a flawless catch, proving that sometimes even rooting for the opposition can pay off. Despite his allegiance to the Sunrisers, the fan walked away with an incredible prize, adding an unexpected twist to the game.

Brevis, a 21-year-old batsman from MI Cape Town, was one of the key players in his team’s impressive performance. Brevis played a brilliant knock of 57 runs off just 29 balls which included two fours and an incredible six sixes. His quick shots were accompanied by an incredible strike rate of 196.55, making him one of the best performers of the match.

Delan Potgieter’s winning spell
With Brevis leading the charge, the team raced to a strong total of 174 runs for the loss of 7 wickets. While Brevis stole the spotlight with his bat, MICT’s Delano Potgieter was a hero with the ball. Potgieter’s incredible performance with the ball earned him the man of the match award. He took a whopping 5 wickets, restricting the SEC batsmen to just 77 runs in their chase while SEC were bundled out for just 77 runs, giving MICT a comprehensive 97 run victory.
