Trump and Obama share a friendly moment at Carter’s funeral, lights up social media

A friendly moment in between President-elect Donald Trump and former President Barack Obama went viral on social media on Thursday.

The former presidents sat next to each other at the former’s state funeral President Jimmy Carter at the National Cathedral in Washington, DC, on Thursday morning. The former president died at his home in Plains, Georgia on December 29 at the age of 100.

They were surrounded by figures including former President George W. Bush, former Vice President Mike Pence, former President Bill Clintonformer First Lady and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris.

Despite what he has politically divided over the years, the two have seemed at ease with each other, smiling and laughing during conversations ahead of the service.

Several journalists and other social media users admired the sight of the two politicians laughing.

“Trump and Obama sitting next to each other were not on the 2025 bingo card,” one social media user published on X.

“What a picture”, the congressional reporter of Politico Anthony Adragna also announced.

“This photo was taken by AP’s Ben Curtis,” CBS News reporter Kathryn Watson posted alongside a photo of the friendly moment.

“Obama and Trump are acting like they’re at work,” joked another X user.

“Did Obama also vote for Trump?!” OutKick founder Clay Travis teased.

SOCIAL MEDIA ERUPTED AFTER BIDEN ATTENDED TRUMP’S WHITE HOUSE MEETING

Several social media users wondered aloud what the two presidents, who have traded criticism for years, could be talking about.

Spectrum News reporter Taylor Popielarz and NBC News correspondent Garrett Haake wished they could be a “fly on the wall” to listen.

“Seeing Obama and Trump chatting like this is crazy because what are you talking about,” another X questionable account.

“We need lip readers to see what Trump said to make Obama laugh,” another person posted.
