Caroline Dubois warns Jessica Camara ahead of Sheffield fight: I’m not Choi. I’d knock her out and I’ll | Boxing news

Jessica Camara believes she can upset WBC world lightweight champion Caroline Dubois when they fight on Saturday, live Sky Sports.

Camara is no stranger to surprises. She handed former world champion Hyun Mi Choi her first defeat on points in 10 rounds in Korea last year.

I like to fight big and I like challenges, said Camara.

The Canadian may have suffered four defeats in her 18-fight pro career, but Choi isn’t the only famous female boxer she’s defeated. Camara previously defeated the American star Heather Hardy.

“I believe I’m special. I’ve done things the hard way in my career and I’m proud of that. I believe I’ll be the best on Saturday,” Camara said.

But Dubois immediately retaliated. She was not impressed with Camara’s win over Choi.

“Not at all. Choi, I think a lot of girls chased for a reason,” said the Londoner.

She told Camara straight out: “Well done, but I’m not Choi, I’d stop Choi, I’d knock her out and I intend to do the same against you on Saturday.

“It will not be a challenge, it will be a mountain to overcome.

“I’m here, I’m coming in, I’m 135 pounds and this is my division.”

‘I’m the real deal’

Also in Sheffield on Saturday, Callum Simpson will defend his British and Commonwealth super middleweight title against dangerous challenger Steed Woodall.

Simpson won his belts on a memorable night at the Oakwell Stadium in his home town of Barnsley when he defeated Zak Chelli.

Woodall, however, impressively knocked out the talented Lerrone Richards and will be a threat on Saturday when they box at the Canon Medical Arena in Sheffield.

The champion, however, promises to display “Yorkshire grit”.

“Every fight is a fight you have to win,” Simpson said. “Every fight we try to raise the levels.

“I wanted to defend my British and Commonwealth titles and Steed was there as the toughest fight and that’s what I wanted.

“I’m looking forward to proving that I’m the real deal.”
