Carlos Sainz: Williams Driver says Ferrari and Charles Leclerc ready to win the F1 title in season 2025 | F1 news

Williams driver Carlos Sainz says Charles Leclerc and his former Ferrari team “ready” to win the Formula One title this year.
Sainz, who drove Williams’s new car 2025. In Silverstone on FridayIt was replaced by Lewis Hamilton in Ferrari after the biggest driver’s movement in sports history.
Ferrari did not win the title from the 2008 championship triumph, and Kimi Raikkonen was their last winner of the 2007 driver’s title.
Scuderia was lagging behind only 14 points for McLaren last year on the construction scale, as the title racing went down to the last race of the season in Abu Dabi.
“Let’s see everyone start a year, but I remember I told all the Ferrari people when I left they were ready to fight for the championships and win the championship this year,” Sainz said Sky Sports News on Williams’s car launch.
“All the learning processes I currently work with Williams, when I left Ferrari, the team was hit, perfect for it.
“I think Charles is because he is the only guy I know and do not know Lewis personally or his ride, etc., I know Charles is ready to fight for the championship.”
Sainz: Positive first impressions on Williams
Williams will be the fifth team that Sainz led from when he will join F1 2015, previously had spells in Toro Rosso, Renault, McLaren and Ferrari.
Sainz has won four races for Ferrari in the last three seasons, so Williams has a driver in several races in his line for the first time since Felipe Mass 2017.
“I always say that the first impressions are very important because you have only one opportunity to make the first impression,” Sainz said.
“And the first impression I had in [2024 post-season] The Test in Abu Dabi and the first impression I had about the factory and this FW47 was very positive.
“I see people full of motivation, goodwill and proud of Williams to start this team. We had a very good winter and a very good test at Abu Dhabi, so I’m happy and I just want to go to the race.”
Albon: Sainz will bring a lot to the team
Sainz was supposed to provide Alex Albon his most difficult teammate, as the Thai driver was born in London in Red Bull, along with Max Verstappen 2019 and 2020.
After a year from F1, Albon had a comfortable advantage at Nicholas Latifia and Logan Sargeant, but Franco Colapinto pushed harder after replacing the Argentine Sargeant for the last phase of last season.
Albon was connected to some 2025 seats closer to the front of the net before they filled them, but in the end he signed a new contract with Williams.
Asked if it could be a season–or-career season for his career, Albon said, “I don’t see so this way, all or nothing type of style.
“It’s great to have Carlos on board in my head – I think he’ll bring a lot in the team. It’s coming from a very strong year, maybe the strongest in Formula 1, and I think it’s a great opportunity for me.
“I had drivers who did not have that reputation, while with Carlos I know it is, so it’s great to go against.”
