“2024 was not good to me”


AEW’s promising star has been out of commission for some time now. Now he gave news about himself.

Anthony Henry made his AEW debut on the 2021 episode of Darko when he faced Eddie Kingston. His performance was good enough to impress Tony Khan and earn him a contract offer. Since then, he has appeared regularly on AEW TV and ROH. Just as he was starting to make a name for himself, he suffered a biceps injury during a match against Gabe Kidd on the October 3, 2024 episode of ROH at HonorClub. Since then, he has not been on television.

During a recent interview with AEW UnlimitedAnthony Henry reflected on his time outside the ring. The ROH the star pointed out that 2024 was a difficult year for him due to his injury.

“2024 hasn’t been kind to me, obviously. It’s weird because in the 22 years I’ve been doing this, I’ve never had a significant injury,” he said.

Henry went on to detail how he felt when he tore his bicep off the bone during his match against Gabe Kidd.

“It was a clean shot, as if it came from the bone. But I didn’t feel it, that’s the strange thing. None of my injuries hurt,” Henry added. [H/T Ringside News]

AEW star Anthony Henry is back in the ring again

Anthony Henry’s injury couldn’t have come at a worse time for the AEW star, just as he was starting to build a reputation in ROH and on Collision. Last year he stepped into the ring against some top stars such as Wheeler Yuta, Kyle O’Reilly, Daniel Garcia and Ethan Page. It’s been a while since he’s been out of action, but fans will be happy to hear that his return may not be far off.

During the same interview, Anthony Henry revealed this he just got back in the ring and wrestled a bit in the chain. He also believes he would do well to return to square one.

“Yesterday I entered the ring for the first time, I was just playing,” he said. “Nothing crazy, we were like doing something, you know, rolling around and chain wrestling. It was fine, so realistically if I wanted to be in the ring now and I was really free, I’d be fine, I think.”

It will be interesting to see when Anthony Henry is cleared to return to the ring.
