The ICC rankings update the big changes after the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and SA-Pakistan series

The latest ICC Men’s Test Player Rankings has seen significant changes, with Australia and South Africa leading the way. The three-Test series came to an end last week, with big performances that changed the charts.

Scott Boland makes a big leap

One of the biggest movers in the rankings is Australian Scott Boland. The Sydney Test Man of the Match climbed 29 places to break into the top 10 bowlers. It now shares the ninth position with India Ravindra Jadeja.

Boland’s heroics in Sydney, where he claimed a remarkable 10 wickets (4/31 and 6/45), played a key role in Australia regaining the Border-Gavaskar Trophy after a decade-long wait. Gone were his fire spells Indiabatsmen struggling on a lively pitch.

Pat Cummins is closing in on Bumrah

Australian skipper Pat Cummins he also gained in the rankings, rising to No. 2 among Test bowlers. His five-wicket haul in the last Test helped him close the gap on India’s Jasprit Bumrah, who remains at the top with 908 points.

Bumrah, who has already made history by scoring the highest ever score by an Indian bowler, added another point to his tally after taking two wickets in the first innings of the Sydney Test. However, a back spasm prevented him from bowling in the second innings, limiting his output.

Rishabh Pant shines with the bat

Only two half-centuries were recorded in the low-scoring Sydney Test. Rishabh PantHis explosive knock of 61 off 33 balls stood out, which saw him rise three places in the batsmen’s rankings to No.9.

In contrast, the second test between South Africa and Pakistan he saw the batsmen taking center stage. Ryan Rickelton’s magnificent double century (259) earned him the Man of the Match award and a massive jump of 48 places to 55th in the batsmen’s rankings.

Pakistan had a tough time with the bat in the first innings, managing just 194 in reply to South Africa’s mammoth 615. But they showed courage after being asked to continue.

Babar AzamHis consistent performances, with half-centuries in both innings, saw him climb five places to 12th in the batsmen’s rankings. Captain Shan MasoodA batting score of 145 in the second innings pushed him up 12 places to 45th.

Rabada and Jansen shine in the bowling and all-round rankings

Kagiso RabadaHis six catches in the Test against Pakistan took him to 3rd in the bowling rankings, behind only Bumrah and Cummins.

South African Marco Jansen made his mark on the all-around rankings, moving up two spots to No. 2. His performance, which included a quick half-century and three wickets, brought him close to overtaking Jadeja at the top.

Afghanistan’s historic victory over Zimbabwe

Afghanistan grabbed the headlines with their historic series Zimbabwe. Centurions Rahmat Shah and debutant Ismat Alam made significant strides in the batsmen’s rankings, with Shah climbing 26 places to 26th and Alam entering the rankings at joint 82nd.

Rashid Khanwho returned to Test cricket after a long break, was instrumental in Afghanistan’s victory. His career best figures of 7/66 in the second innings and a match tally of 11 wickets saw him re-enter the bowling rankings at 54th.

White-Ball Cricket Ranking Update

In white-ball cricket, Sri Lanka‘with Kusal Perera stole the show in the final T20I vs New Zealand with a scintillating 46-ball century. His performance saw him jump 26 places to 10th in the T20I batsmen’s rankings.

In the ODI rankings, New Zealand’s Matt Henry moved up to 12th among bowlers after his first match against Sri Lanka. Meanwhile, Will Young’s unbeaten 90 took him to joint 13th in the batsmen’s rankings.
