Netanyahu’s political calculation sent by tanks to Jenin | Israel-Palestine News of Conflict

In the early hours of Monday, 56-year-old Ahmed al-amouri watched the wrong that three Israeli tanks were inserted into his hometown of Jenin on the occupied west coast.

The last time he saw the tanks was more than two decades ago when Israel sought to overthrow the second intifad in 2002.

This time, the scene seemed to cause more humor than alarm.

He joined the passers -by who took the selfies in front of the armored vehicles or poured them with rocks while entering Jenina.

“There is no point in bringing these tanks to the end. The city is empty!” Said Father five.

“I and thousands of others are already thrown out, and if they are not fighting their demons, they will not find anyone in the camp to fight,” he said.

He followed the tanks from Wad Burkeen, a village that is now based, about a 10 -minute walk from his home at the Jenin Camp, from which he was forced on January 26, together with 14 members of his family.

The refugee campsites on the west coast hosted thousands of Palestinians whose predecessors were ethnically cleaned with Zionist gangs to make a place for the Declaration of the State of Israel in 1948.

Over the years, armed resistance has emerged. 2002, while Israeli tanks bulldozed the streets of these campsites, the fighters were ready with traps and ambush.

But as three tanks overturned this week in Jenin and became stationed in Al-Jabriyat neighborhood, they did not find resistance.

Political rather than tactically

The use of tanks comes after more than a month of Israeli attacks on the occupied west coast, called “Operation Iron Wall”, which launched just like a ceasefire in Gaza.

According to analysts, Israel’s motivation is political, not security, it is considered a move to calm the extremely right -wing Israeli politicians fought for interruption of fire.

The attacks on the West Bank killed at least 61 people and displaced more than 40,000 since the end of January.

“The war in Gaza, and now on the west coast, is part of the Israeli collective punishment strategy,” said Wasel Abu Yousef, a member of the Executive Board of the Palestinian Liberation Organization.

“The destruction of Palestinian cities and the displacement of the inhabitants are … Political maneuvers intended for the spinning of Israel’s adhesion in occupied territories,” adding that this will implement the way to build more illegal Israeli settlements.

Test for long -term plans of Israel

The last development of Jenin, said analysts, Israel tested its vision on the west coast, especially since Defense Minister Israel Katz said that those displaced from refugee camps would not be allowed to return.

According to Palestinian political analyst Ahmadu Abu al-Hi, tanks arranging is part of the Israeli strategy for remodeling the structures of the security and management of the West Coast.

“What is happening in Jenin is … about the redefinition of Israeli control and potentially integrating the elements of the Palestinian Administration’s security forces in a box dominated by Israeli dominance,” he said.

These attacks, he added, are also associated with Israel’s pressure to remove refugee camps and concept of Palestinians as refugees, which became obvious when it launched what seemed to be a UNRWA campaign, UN agency for Palestinian refugees

“Eliminating UNRWA is part of the deletion of Palestinian rights to return. If the Jenina camp is dismantled, he will set a precedent for other campsites on the West Bank, turning them into regular city districts and forcing Palestine to integrate into Israeli municipal systems,” he explained.

The extreme right pressure and annexation of the west coast

For Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who is facing growing domestic unrest for treating a war in Gaza and a tribute, despite its extreme right -wing partners, escalation on the West Coast serves as a political distraction.

His ultimate right allies, including the Minister of Finance Bezalel, and Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben-Gvir, have long called for an annexation of the West Coast and the expulsion of the Palestinians.

“Netanyahu tries to survive politically by offering military escalation as a concession to its ultimate right coalition,” said Suleiman Basharat, director of the Yabous Center for Strategic Studies.

“The schedule of tanks in Jenin is … a spectacle designed to send a message to his base to take decisive actions” and “shock Palestine in surrender.

“By art of heavy military machines, it aims to create a sense of inevitability regarding its control over the West Bank.”

Produced crisis

Palestinian analyst Ahmed Rafiq Awad, Director of the Al-Quds Political Studies Center, said that although Israel aims to show its military operations as necessary security measures, the excessive force used on the west coast risks that Palestinian resistance has been re-widespread.

“The level of brutality we see – mass arrests, demolition of the house and continuous raid – could push Palestinians toward another uprising,” Basharat warned.

“If Israel continues this level of violence, we may see a return to the muscle of popular conflicts similar to those from the first and other intipardas.”

Awad agreed that in the midst of the “muffled” response of the international community, and “without real consequences, Netanyahu and its ultimate right allies would continue to spread settlements, deleting refugee camps and inserting occupation under the guise of security.”

For Palestinians like Al-amouri, the presence of Israeli tanks in Jenin is a gloomy reminder that the occupation is deepened.

“We lived under their interest all our lives. This is nothing new. In fact, this is all too familiar,” he said.
