Tilak Varma issues tight order Varun Chakravarthy, Washington Sundar ahead of Chennai T20i
Team India Tilak Varma jokingly made a request to his teammates, Varun Chakravarthy and Washington Sundar, ahead of the second T20i against England in Chennai. Tilak Varma jokingly asked Varun Chakravarthy to arrange breakfast and was going to have dinner at Washington Sundar’s place.
The Suryakumar Yadav-led team started the T20I series against England on a positive note. On January 22, India won the first match by seven wickets at the Eden Gardens to take a 1-0 lead in the series. The second T20I will be held at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on January 25.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) recently shared a funny video on Instagram of cricketers traveling from Kolkata to Chennai. In the video, Tilak Varma ordered his co-stars Varun Chakravarthy and Washington Sundar to arrange food for him in their hometown.
“Does Hain Apne Team SE player, Ek Varun Ek Washi (Washington Sundar). Unke Liye Mein Yeh Bol Na Chah Raha Hu Ki Ki Ki Va Varun Subeh subeh Ghar pe Ek Crisp dosa Chahiye breakfast ke liye ashi ko washi ke ghar mein dinner chahiye,” Tilka Varma could be heard saying in the video. (We have two players in the team, one is Varun and one is Washi. I want to tell Varun that I need crispy dosa for breakfast and I will have dinner at Washi’s Place in the evening.)

Varun Chakravarthy made his T20I debut in 2021 but was dropped due to his performance. He made a successful comeback after becoming the second highest wicket taker in the IPL. Since returning to the T20I team last year, the 33-year-old has taken 20 wickets in 8 matches.

Varun Chakravarthy, who recorded bowling figures of 3/23 in the first T20i of the series, is excited about playing in his hometown, Chennai. He shared that it will be his first match for India at the venue, where his parents and family will attend the match.
“We are going to Chennai and it will be my first game for India in Chennai. I am excited because my parents will come and my family will also come to see, so excited,” said Chakravarthy in the said video.
Tilak Varma cemented his place in India’s T20I squad after scoring back-to-back centuries
Tilak Varma earned a call-up to the Indian T20 squad after his impressive performances with Mumbai Indians (MI) in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He made his debut against the West Indies at Taroubi in 2023, where he scored 39 runs. Jugpaw then added a half-century and an unbeaten 49 runs.
Tilak cemented his place in the T20I squad after scoring back-to-back centuries in the away series against South Africa last year. The 22-year-old amassed 635 runs in 21 T20 matches at an average of 52.91 and a strike rate of 159.54, including two centuries and two fifties.
