Carlo Ancelotti has hinted that he will leave Real Madrid at the end of the season
Carlo Ancelotti will reportedly step down as Real Madrid coach at the end of this season, despite having a contract with the club until the summer of 2026.
Ancelotti, who delivered two La Liga and Champions League couples from returning to the Spanish capital in 2021, he signed a new deal with the club in 2023. It came at a time when he was nearing the end of his previous deal and was being heavily and publicly courted by the Brazilian men’s national team.
But, just over a year later, the legendary Italian boss could be calling time on his second stint at the Bernabeu.
The report comes from a Spanish radio station Then Ceroclaiming that Ancelotti has already decided that this season will be his last in Madrid. Even if the campaign ends with more trophies and the hierarchy insists on him continuing, the 65-year-old would leave.
That’s not why he’s going to retire, but Ancelotti he is reportedly interested in pursuing his career in another country – to date he has worked in Italy, England, France, Spain and Germany.
That doesn’t necessarily mean Brazil, although it could still be possible if the Selecao continue to lose in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers under Dorival Junior. The ambitious Saudi Professional League would undoubtedly be linked if Ancelotti were to become available soon.
When it comes to substitutions, Then Cero notes that the former Madrid midfielder Xabi Alonso is the “favourite”. The 2014 Champions League winner showed his coaching ability with his exploits at Bayer Leverkusen, rejected Liverpool last summer to stay in Germany.
Although Madrid have brought in Kylian Mbappe and players like Vinicius Junior, Jude Bellingham, Eduardo Camavinga and Rodrygo who are yet to reach their peak, it seems a new chapter is about to begin. Toni Kroos has already left, while Luka Modrić will turn 40 in September, and Thibaut Courtois, Dani Carvajal, Antonio Rudiger, David Alaba and Lucas Vazquez are the wrong side of 30.
