But there was always an appetite to extend his stay here. He absolutely loves life at Manchester City. There was always a sense from the outside that Haaland was here as a stepping stone for Real Madrid, but he has committed his future here.

Why nine and a half years?
I was told that the length of the contract has absolutely nothing to do with cost allocation to meet PSR regulations.
Manchester City believes that there is enough space on that front due to the profits they have made in the transfer market in recent seasons.
Rather, it’s an indication of how highly they value Haaland’s outstanding contribution in terms of his goals and their determination to tie him down for as long as possible.
