Millions gather in northern India for a major 6-week Hindu festival

The Maha Kumbh Mela, or Great Jug Festival, is held every 12 years in the northern city of Prayagraj, as Hindus believe that bathing in holy rivers brings salvation from the cycle of birth and death, and freedom from sin. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said 35 million people participated this week.
