According to Sky Sports and reporter Sacha Tavolieri, Chelsea are now considering a £70m bid to sign Mainoo from Man Utd. Tavolieri detailed the situation, claiming that Mainoo could soon become “exasperated with the lack of ambition at Old Trafford.
“Already informed of this situation, Chelsea Football Club took the opportunity to come and question Mainoo’s entourage and representatives. Still with this idea of recovering the best youngsters in Europe to grow within the London club, the Blues would even be willing to consider sending a bid of close to £70m to convince Omar Berrada and the United board.
“Under contract until June 2027, with an option year added, Kobbie Mainoo could quickly become angered by the lack of ambition within the Mancunian club and draw the necessary consequences. At 19 years old, the English midfielder is a child of the club and clearly gives it priority, but while we often praise the omnipotence of stars, who are more and more prone to clinging to their clubs in favor of excessive desires, the situation could take a very different direction as it is Manchester United who could encourage the midfielder to accept the idea of leaving to save the finances of the club he is training for.”
Mainoo currently earns only £20,000 a week right now in Manchester, and with the contract stalemate seemingly continuing in the north, a move south to London and Chelsea could be a place Mainoo could keep an eye on.
