Sam Curran in the race for the English captain of the white ball after becoming Captain Surrey T20


Young English versatile Curran was named the captain of the men’s team Surrey for the upcoming Vitality T20 Blast 2025 season. Sam Curran has the opportunity to prove his credentials as the potential future captain of the white ball in England, especially after Jos Buttler’s resignation.

The 26-year-old has been with Surrey since his U15 day and is the first time captain in Surrey at the U17 level. He has the experience of leadership in the franchise crisis, including the Punjab Kings captaincy at IPL -in the running of desert viper to the Ilt20 2025 finals.

Curran himself was an English player of the tournament in their World Cup triumph in the T20 2022, but struggled to find a place in a team with a white ball. He was not selected as a recent series, including the 2025 champion trophy.

Curran is Captain Surrey in a vital explosion in 2023. He scored over 4,000 runs in 268 T20 matches at the rate of 135.15 strike, including 24 half centuries and centuries against Hampshire in last year’s explosion.

“I would like to thank Chris Jordan for three years as Captain of the T20 Side. He led the team for consecutive performances on the day of the finals and will remain a key part of the side on the field and outside the field.

“This is the right time to take over as a captain with the one where he is in his career. It is a great opportunity to put his mark on this and help us take that step further to deliver silver accessories. He showed his own leadership features already in Surreyu IU IPL -U will bring a huge amount of role.”
