Canadian relationships continue to reach the lowest over the threats of tariffs and annexation
But when Prime Minister Justin Trudeau deviates in a few days, his successor will face the worst relationship between the USA -a major depression trade war. It is probably closer to the beyond that has not been seen since the 19th century.
After a week of confusing signals from the White House, Mr. Trump said that he was dedicated to the name of a potentially devastating 25 percent of tariffs to most exports from Canada, except for oil and gas, which are confronted with a 10 -pointed tax.

If we remember when Mr Trump first began to propose tariffs to Canada and Mexico, which now seems a very long time ago, he had two justifications. He insisted that the US was overcome by migrants and poisoned by the fentanyl who came across the borders with two main trading partners in the country.
The Government of Mr. Trudeauu replied 1.3 billion Canadian package of measures to fix the border. He called “Fentanil Car”, he gave Mounties, in two Black Hawk helicopters to fly along the border, assigned a large number of its officers to the border patrol and bought various supervision devices, including drones.
Matina Stevis-Gljenoff, our head of the Canada Office, went to Coutts, Alberta, to see the project in action. What she discovered was that instead of stopping migrants, they leave Canada, new patrols pick up people running away from the USA

Mr. Trump’s arguments for tariffs are sometimes based on the opinion that now, as he says, they are subsidized by Canada. The idea is part of the general argument of the President to use the trading the rest of the world to “bounce” the US and undermine its industry.
In the case of Canada, his request for subsidy seems to be linked to the trade excess with the US that the excess is largely the result of oil and gas exports to the US because Americans receive goods and services from Canada for their money, and the trade surplus does not in any way correspond to the definition of subsidy.
My colleagues Ana Swanson, Andrew Duehren and Colby Smith write that “Mr. Trump claims that the tariffs will impose a little, if any, the costs of the United States and take advantage of the huge amounts of revenues that the Government can use to pay tax and consumption, and even to balance the federal budget.”
But in their analysis of Mr. Trump’s trade pronunciations, they found that “tariffs cannot achieve all the goals that Mr. Trump expressed. In fact, many of his goals are opposed and undermined.”

If the Last-minute refund does not come, and the tariffs are in effect just after midnight on Tuesday, Mr. Trudeau clearly said that Canada would take revenge on his own taxes.
But he probably won’t make Mr Trump withdraw immediately, nor will he turn the closure of plants or inflation provided by most experts and many leaders in the industry.
The plea who calls the Government to recall the Canadian citizenship of Elon Musk, a multivarius whose work for Mr. Trump, he says, “a member of a foreign government trying to erase Canadian sovereignty.”
