At least 37 people died and 30 were injured after two passenger buses collided in Bolivia, police said.
The collision occurred early on Saturday about 5 km (3 miles) from the southwestern city of Uyuna.
One of the drivers was receiving intensive care, while the other was stable, said police commander Wilson Flores.
Pictures published in Bolivian media showed a poorly damaged coach, and the body was toreled and luggage scattered on the road.
The buses collided on the route between Uyunia and Colchani in the Potosí Bolivian ward after “the invasion of the tape”, the local media reported.
One bus traveled to the western city of Oruir, where Armed Carnival was taking place – one of the largest festivals in Latin America.
The vehicles were recovered for 10:00 local time (14:00 GMT), and those injured were taken to hospitals and in Oruura IU Potosí.
Those who died are not identified and the situation of the injured has yet to be determined.
According to local media, CDR Flores said police were waiting for the results of alcohol tests taken by drivers.
Deadly car accidents are common in Bolivia. In February, more than 30 people were killed When the bus flew in almost 800 m (2625 ft) into the plain between the cities of Potosí and Oruir.
In January, 19 people were killed when the second bus went out of the way in the same region, also near Potosí.
On average, 1,400 people die in traffic accidents each year in a country of about 12 million inhabitants, according to government data.
