UN suspends operations in Yemen’s Houthhi stronghold after staff detained | News of the United Nations
The UN said that the “extraordinary and temporary measure” was taken to ensure the safety and safety of its staff.

Haq said he couldn’t say how many people in Yemen would influence the break in the UN operations, but said that the world body remains “completely devoted to helping millions of people in need” throughout the country.
“This break is to give the time de facto to the authorities and the United Nations to agree on the release of the arbitrarily detained UN staff to ensure that there are the necessary conditions for providing critical humanitarian support,” he said.
Houthis, who did not immediately acknowledge the UN decision, detained dozens of UN staff from 2021, and the group had at least 24 people in custody before the latest arrests.
Until now, UN employees have not been published, and the group has paraded them on television channels, where they were presented as associates with Western intelligence agencies and Israel.
