The civil war in Sudan has created “the worst humanitarian crisis in the world,” the African Union warned.
The conflict between the Sudanese military government and the power of paramilitary fast support (RSF) interferes with the assistance of population attacks and hunger threats, the official on the crisis panel announced on Tuesday.
The war “interfered with an approach to a humanitarian relief, led to a lack of food and worse hunger,” said Mohamed ibn Chambas, a high-level panel chair on Sudan (HLP-Sudan), said on X.
“Children and women are constantly abused, and the elderly and sick are missing medical help,” he continued. “This is the worst humanitarian crisis in the world.”

Attacks on schools, children’s soldiers
The war in Sudan broke out in April 2023 and displaced about 12 million people. Au officials warned that hundreds of thousands of children are now malnourished.

“Permanent limitations and bureaucratic obstacles” imposed by the RSF Humanitarian Agency “prevent help in rescuing life to reach those in a desperate need,” said Clementine Nkweta-Salami, a UN-Humanitarian coordinator in Sudan.
Chambas stated that “only the inter-companionary political dialogue, not a military option, can end this war”, which suggests that “external interference has equally contributed why the war lasted so long.”
“We will continue to hire all Sudan parties, including civilians and political actors, in a comprehensive solution to the crisis and a comprehensive political dialogue for the restoration of the constitutional democracy in Sudan,” said Banko Adeyoya Ambassador, Commissioner for Political Affairs, Peace and Safety.
On Sunday, the Sudan’s military government, which has been pressed by RSF in recent weeks, revealed what was called a Put’s map for post -war transitional government.
