Anna Nordqvist was appointed successor to Suzanna Pettersen and the captain of Europe will be a team of Europe for 2026.
Nordqvist, 37, presented each of the last nine Solheim Cups as a player – all present member of the European side from his debut from 2009 – with the Sweden part of the four winning European teams.
The three-time main champion was the Pettersene’s player vice-president during the last two editions, where Europe retained a trophy with a historic tie 14-14 in Spain in 2023 before lost to the United States a year later.
Nordqvist is now inherited by Pettersen as a captain for the next edition of a two -year competition, held in Bernardus Golf in the Netherlands from 11 to 13 September 2026, where Europe will look like to return the trophy and ask for the first victory in five years.

Pasty Solheim’s success of the new Captain Nordqvist
Nordqvist is related to most of the performances of Solheim Cup for Team Europe, and former Captain Pettersen and Catriona Matthew are also within three of the 12 ladies of Laura Davies within three.
She scored two points from four matches during each of her first two appearances, including in the European dramatic win of 15-13 in 2011, which ended a series of three consecutive successes in the United States.
Nordqvist fired the first hole in the history of the Solheim Cup during a record European victory in 2013, then he was one of only three European players to win their single matches on the last day of the U.S. Historic Return in 2015.
Solheim Cup Stalwart ended up as a European scorer during the 2017 defeat, winning 3.5 points from his four matches, and Nordqvist defeated Morgan Pressel on the last day of the historic European 14.5-13.5 in Glneagles two years later.
She aimed at Rookie Matilda Castren with two victories during a successful European defense title on US soil 2021, before contributing to the last day in historic draw and earned two points for Europe in last year’s loss of 15.5-12, 5.
Nordqvist scored 18.5 points with her 35 matches, making her fifth highest scorer of all time in Europe behind Davies (25), Annika Sorenstam (24), Matthew (22) and Pettersen (21).
The Team USA has not yet announced its next captain Solheim Cup, and Stacy Lewis held a role in the last two editions. Angela Stanford and Press, Vice -Presidents for the last two competitions, are other potential candidates.
