Pope Francis slept peacefully, ate breakfast after diagnosis of pneumonia in both lungs

Pope Francis He slept well and ate breakfast on Wednesday morning after he was diagnosed with pneumonia in both lungs, the Vatican states.
Matteo Bruni, a Vatican spokesman, said Francis had a quiet fifth night at the Gemelli Roman Hospital.
“He had a quiet night, he woke up and had breakfast,” a spokesman said.
On Tuesday, the Vatican said that Francis, who had the upper lung lobe when he was young, was diagnosed with pneumonia and that laboratory tests, X -ray of the chest and Pope clinical condition “still represent a complex image.”

“Polymicrobial infection, which was created in the image of bronchiectasis and astophorn bronchitis, which required the use of cortisone therapy with antibiotics, makes therapeutic treatment more complex,” the Vatican said on Tuesday.
“CT CT scanning that the Holy Father was undergoing this afternoon … He showed the beginning of a bilateral pneumonia that required further pharmacological therapy,” she continued.
But on Wednesday, the Vatican said that the Pope remains in a good mood and that he is grateful for the prayers for his recovery.
Friday Francis, 88, was admitted to the hospital In a “fair” condition after a week, bronchitis worsened. On Monday, the hospital determined that it was suffering from the polymycrobial infection of the respiratory tract, which means that the mixture of viruses, bacteria and possibly other organisms is colonized in its respiratory tract.

“CT scan on the chest that the Holy Father passed this afternoon … showed the beginning of bilateral pneumonia, which required additional drug therapy,” Bruni said.
Bronchitis can lead to pneumonia, deeper and far more serious infections of the air bags of lungs. Pneumonia can develop in a part or entirely one lungs or both lungs, and is usually more serious when both lungs are affected because there are not enough healthy healthy lung tissue for compensation.
Treatment may vary, but it may include oxygen providing through the nasal pipe or mask, intravenous fluid and treatment of the fundamental cause of infection.
Francis is not believed to use additional oxygen. He had breakfast every day, read a newspaper and did a job from his hospital room.

The Vatican also said that Francis did not have a fever, for which Carmelo d’A Asero, an infectious illness and an expert on geriatric disease in Rome, said it was not necessarily a positive thing about the severity of his infection.
“High fever is a sign of immune response to pathogen,” D’Aserero said. “Having a low fever and having a serious bronchial infection … It is a sign of a reduced immune response and therefore worry about a little more.
The Vatican did not say how long the Pope could stay in the hospital, saying that the treatment of such a “complex clinical picture” would require a “appropriate” stay.
