All 80 passengers and crew members on the ship of the Delta Air Lines of Minneapolis who collapsed and overturned at Toronto’s airport expected to survive.
Two passengers described what seemed like a routine descent that suddenly turned them upside down.

Mr. Koukov, 28, a professional skier from Colorado, was on his way to Toronto to make a ski movie. Nothing seemed fine during the final descent, he said in an interview, until the wheels hit the ground and the plane slid on the right.
From his window on the left side of the plane, Mr. Koukov said, he saw a flame as the plane hit the ground. “I discovered quite quickly and somehow got down to the floor, which was a ceiling,” he said. “People panicked.”

Mr. Carlson, a paramedicer, traveled to a conference in Toronto. The passengers were told that there were strong winds, but said that the collision had encouraged him from what began as a routine descent.
“One minute of landings, you somehow wait to see your friends and your people. And next minute he is physically upside down and just really turned,” he told the CBC, a Canadian public show. “It was cement and metal.”
After the plane lost his wing and rolled, there was a sensitive friend in the cabins. “Everyone in that plane suddenly became very close in the sense of helping each other, how to comfort each other, and that was strong,” he said.
He noticed a woman who ended up under the seat, a mother and a boy sitting on the aircraft ceiling, which was now his floor. He had no idea what the state had any of them, he said. “My paternal instinct and background as a paramedicin species,” he said, for making him focus on ensuring that everyone left the plane.
Jet Fuel, he said, ran a series of aircraft windows.
Mr. Carlson, who had scratches visible on his head, said that after leaving the plane, he tried to move as far away from him as he noticed that the wing was missing and heard the sounds of the explosion. After putting his coat on his colleague, he photographed the photo on the phone and sent it to his family, friends and colleagues how to inquire about his safety.
“This is my reality right now: down on the asphalt and alive, which is amazing,” he said, recounting how he felt.
A friend who traveled to the airport to pick it up, he found his way to the asphalt and began to treat others. Passengers with injuries were quickly placed on buses and transported to safely, he said.
“The most powerful part of today was only people, without countries, there is nothing,” he said. “These were only people together, helping each other.”
