US President Donald Trump said he would impose an additional 10 percent of imports to imports from China and press the front with a charge on Mexico and Canada from March 4.
“The suggested tariffs that should take effect on March on March on March Fourth, will indeed come into force, as it is scheduled,” Trump wrote on Thursday on Truth Social.
The president stopped the proposed tariffs to Mexico and Canada earlier this month, just hours before they needed to start, giving the two largest trade partners in the US monthly refund.
But in his post on Thursday, Trump claimed that “the drug is still poured into our country from Mexico and Canada at a very high and unacceptable level.”
Washington will also hit China with an additional 10 percent of March 4, he said, adding that his reciprocal tariff plan will continue to go forward as planned on April 2.
“China will be charged an additional 10% tariff on this date. The second reciprocal tariff date will remain in full strength and effect,” Trump wrote.
