Jack Catterallle has been denied the world title after suffered in Manchester a divided loss of the decision of Arnold Barboza JR.
Catterall was aimed at earning a mandatory flank for WBO’s belt Teofimo Lopez, but Barboza jr kicked him on the ladder, earning three villas from 115-113 to secure a temporary WBO belt and fight with his rival.
Both fighters enjoyed the spells of success in a close encounter, with Barboza JR’s Barboza that Judge Steve Gray had judged slipping after knocking down on the canvas in the 10th round.
Catterall failed to reduce small deficit on the ladder because he suffered his second defeat against a very controversial loss of Josh Taylor’s 2022 points.
At Undercard, Reece Bellotti defended his British and Commonwealth Super-Feather titles with a stopping victory in the 10th round over Michael Gomez Jr.
