Electricity’s disappearance in Chile leaves millions without electricity
Millions of people are thought to be without electricity in Chile after a great disappearance of electricity throughout the country.
According to the national disaster prevention and response service (Senaprad), it affects the area that extends to most countries, including the capital, Santiago.
The exact scale of the interruption, which began earlier on Tuesday, is not yet known, but Senaprad said that he covered the regions of Aricer and Parictat in the north to Los Lagosa in the south.
Reuters news agency also reported that the world’s largest copper mine, EsCondida, is without electricity, citing a source close to that issue.
In the post on X, the Santiago Metro operator said his service was temporarily suspended due to the continuous interruption of the current, and the cells were evacuated and closed.
Cileo’s Interior Minister, Carolina Toha, also posted on X to say that the meeting would be invited to discuss current measures to restore services.
Senaprad added that electrical companies across the impact explore guilt and try to restart services.
