Danny Care: Disappointment, misery to mind when I think about the chances of British and Irish lions | News of rugby

Harlequins Scrum-Pola Danny Care talks Sky Sports About England high and falls, his incredible longevity in sports and despair that he never become a British and Irish lion.
In January, the Care announced that she would continue her love affair with Quins in another season – 20th with the London club that will take him before his 39th birthday.
Such a feat is extremely rare within perhaps the most appropriate and most brutal team sports, and even more for the back.
Care, who withdrew from England after last year’s six nations with 101 test caps, knows that there is one great landmark in the sport in which he has poured most of his life to which he has missed several times, and has still ranked this.
“It’s a disappointment for me and misery [when thinking of the Lions]”Care speaks Sky Sports at a promotional event for Greene King.
“I probably feel that I was next in a line of four tours in a row, which is hard to take.”
A series of accidents, unhappy and close calls meant the care of the care for Lions Tours to South Africa in 2009, Australia 2013, New Zealand 2017 and South Africa again in 2021.
The margins, however, were painful.
During 2009, the care of six nations suffered an ankle injury in English training HQ Pennyhill Park, forcing it from the opening of two rounds. Leicester Tigers Scrum-Pol Harry Ellis was invited to the English camp and would continue that summer on a tour with lions.
The 2013 tour documentary in Australia includes one scene showing the main coach Warren Gatland talking about care and then 24-year-old Conor Murray, as he struggles for a place on the plane. She stayed at home while Murray was visiting and introduced himself in the second and third tests.
Gatland then checked the care of interviews as one of the four “really unhappy” players to miss.
In 2017, care was neglected for Murray, Rhys Webb and compatriot Ben Youngs, and again was transferred because of the Scottish Greig Laidlaw when Youngs pulled out for personal reasons. According to the fact that England was touring in Argentina at the time, then he did not invite him as a cover later on the tour, because the controversial ‘Geography Six’ were selected by Wales and Scotland’s players who settled closer.
Until 2021, the concern was thrown out of Eddie Jones in England for three years, but his club form was sensational because Harlequins set off for a stunning race to seal the premiership title. He just missed in the midst of a wide report that he was serious consideration, admitting that at the time his form for Quins, consequently, suffered a period due to the mental stress of the lion selection.
“Thanks for putting it all out!” he says humorously. “That’s one of those things. I wish I had experienced her because when you talk to the guys they did, they say it’s a highlight, the most special feeling.
“I grew up the lion fans and I like to watch him. But unfortunately, it never happened to me. You can blame Warren Gatland for most of them, so he cheers on Warren … I’m still a massive fan of lions.
“I have really good friends who were playing for lions and had incredible moments. The hosted monge intercepted in South Africa and celebrated there and there. I have never been happier for him.
“It’s a special shirt and restores amazing memories like [Jeremy] Guscott’s drop naked in 1997.
“I can’t wait to see what Andy Farrell is doing with these teams. She has an amazing crowd of selection talent so I can’t wait to watch.
“Six nations are time to shine for all these guys. This is a huge opportunity to play well and put your hand on choosing on that tour. To get up, you must.”
Of her four potential lions, she may have been the closest in Australia in Australia in 2013.
The lions are moving down to face Wallabies this summer, and although the concern envisages the serial victory for tourists, he does not expect it to be unilaterally as imagined.
“The lions will drop there as favorites, but the best thing for the tour was how much Australia performed in the fall, especially in that English game. It almost made a tour even more special.
“People are looking forward to seeing Australia. There is a superstar that they have discovered Joseph Suaalii, he is an amazing player. I don’t think it will be the walks that people thought it would be.
“I hope the lions won the 2-1 series, that would be my assumption.
‘For years I have been left out of the camp in England, they were difficult; I’m proud to get stuck on that ‘
Care’s is a career that seemed to stutter huge peaks and troughs.
For three titles six nations and two premiere premiere, see the five-year period of the championship exile, the aforementioned lions of disappointment and the World Cup campaign in the Rugby 2011 and 2019, which remained from home-housed ankle in the last test for heating against Wales in the first degree and as part of its international expulsion eight years later.
It is amazing that each time he refuses, forcing his journey into the English World Cup in 2023 and ran to the semifinals in France at the age of 36.
Between November 2018 and warming tests for that 2023 World Cup, the concern got a cold shoulder at the level of England, briefly on the summer tour 2022 to Australia, but left out for any other test window.
Former English chief Eddie Jones was the main coach of most of the time, and worried recently made titles to describe the environment under Australia as a “ruling fear” and “like life in dictatorship” in his autobiography.
Care wanted to balance his experience in interviews, pointing to the win of the Grand Slam for 2016 over France in Paris under Jones as “the best moment of my career.” Even still, he admits that the continuous disappeared in England was a difficult period to deal with.
“It was difficult because you see other guys doing what you like the most and want to do.
“I had several options: either indulge in and never do it again or do it hard and try to get back to the room. Luckily for me, Steve [Borthwick] He gave me the opportunity to wear a shirt again, for which I will always be grateful forever.
“There were a lot of both [highs and lows]. I always think I could beat more. Three six nations are great for me, but I would love four or five.
“I am really proud of the ups, the downs and all between it. I stuck on it and I did not give up, which I can be proud of. There are times when you would like to return and change a few things, but I will miss.
“I owe a lot of Steve for taking another opportunity for me and giving me and my family to live a dream again.
“I fulfilled. I absolutely loved every second of those 101 caps I managed to get. Exodus, presenting your country, I know how it feels.
“It’s weird because I’ll be honest, but I’m in a really nice head space where I can actually enjoy the games. I’m glad I’m on the other side now and I can be a fan.
“Rugby gave me incredible options. Those I never thought about.”
Premiership at the age of 40 – “It was an easy call to continue”
In the history of the Premiership dating from 1987, only 10 players have ever been presented in matches after his 39th birthday.
Care and Harlequins plan to add their name to that list as 11. With confirmation that they will continue until at least the summer of 2026.
Already a record holder of appearance in clothing based in Twickenham at 389, the Care descended from Leeds when he was still a teenager and continued twice in the Prime Minister (2012, 2021). The father of three says that the decision to play is really not something he had to fight with. It’s just not ready to stop yet.
“It was an easy call. I still like to play this amazing game and I know I won’t be able to do it forever.
“I know it’s something I can’t stop, and then I come back, so I’ll drive this wave as I can and enjoy it.
“Children continue me. Have more children, my friend, it seems to me that I need to play more! No, I’m so happy to still play this sport and call it a job.
“I was lucky with the position in which I play: I don’t have to mix it with big boys like some of the guys do. I watched from the field and invested in that side the game.
“I love the club, clean and simple. Indeed. Leaving Leeds to London was a big move, but I felt at home in Harlequins since I was 19 years old.
“Winning the league as a young child was amazing, and then it was difficult for nine years.
“To see what this meant to young boys 2021 to raise that trophy, I almost got so much pleasure, watching them experience it than I actually do.
“In order to continue working for a club I love and do my other bits on the side, when I stop playing, it’s easy to make a decision to continue for a moment.”
