Crawford’s Canelo Fight: Lean is key
Terence Crawford would be better off not gathering for his three -belt title of £ 168 pounds of Canela Alvarez on September 13 in Las Vegas. If Crawford (41-0, 31 ko) has any goal in the victory, he must come to Lean for fighting and not adding extra weight that will slow him down.
In the last fight of Crawford, he showed no power in his debut in 154 against the WBA junior Middle category champion Irail Madrid. Although he looked bigger than he had a year earlier in 147 against Errol Spence, his strength did not increase. He was harder and slower.
Crawford’s best chance
If the crawford is collected, hoping to discover more power to match the naturally stronger and larger Canelo (62-2-2-2, 39 ko), it will make a mistake that could result in a knockout loss. It is doubtful that the tarent will be long enough to hurt him, but he will not win if he fights in defense all night. Jermell Charlo and Erislandy Lara tried this approach, and judge in Nevada prices that style.
It would be better if Crawford was willing to move up to 168 to prepare several fights in the division to fight Canel. He did not want to do so because the big reason why Tenice takes this match for money, not him who tries to prove that he is the best dog in 168.
Crawford’s last fight in 154 showed that he was not designed to go beyond that division. Even in that weight class, he would have to be strategic to avoid losses if he wanted to remain undefeated. Not big enough, strong or young to kill the killers at 154, and certainly not at 168.
“Crawford rose 14 pounds. Canelo is not a 168 guy when you see him. He is firm and put himself in that division. When I look at his frame, he should fight at 160,” said Ade Oladipo on his YouTube The Crawford Terrence Channel does not give up so much of the Canela Alvarez size.
“If I were Crawford, I would go at 160. I don’t need to be in 168. I would just go into weight that I felt perfectly at if it was a movement. He won’t surpass Canelo. I know Crawford likes to fight, and he’s strong. You won’t surpass Canelo. “
Ade is right. Crawford should not be harder than he did for his fight against Errol Spence 2023. Because it was his best weight. His recording will not in any weight of the Canela phase. Terence only wins if Canelo is thrown out in a boring fight.
“What can do is be more fleet and be better on the move,” Ade said. “You can land your shots and get in and get out of your pocket. I think Crawford in 160 makes it better than Crawford trying to get into the ring near enough at the age of 180. You carry a weight you are not used to carrying.
“This Crawford Jump is a quick and big jump. It’s not like you had four fights in 154 and you used to deal with extra weight. You immediately went from 147 to 154 to 168. I say you enter 160 or 161 and say:” Let’s have him. “Usyk always fights in a heavyweight category at the age of 222. He tries to assess what is his best weight, and I think Crawford should look at it.”
Canel’s weakness
He is a big jump for Crawford, but it is estimated that Canelo will go early as he did in the last two fights against Edgar Berlang and Jaime Munguia. The Mexican star left nothing in the gasoline tank after four rounds and could only fight for the rest of the competition in short fights.
“Establish what is the best weight for you, and you don’t have to hit 168. To be super medium weight, all you have to do is weigh more than 160. Come to 161,” Ade said about what Crawford should do.
