Babar was absent from training ahead of the conflict against India. His recent form was already under supervision, with questions set up because of the intention of scoring. Criticism intensified after his 64-line-up ranked 94 balls in a 60 run in Pakistan from New Zealand in their tournament opener.

Revsportza journalist Rohit Juglan stated that Babar Azam’s participation in the upcoming match remains uncertain. He stated that Babar experienced watery eyes and mild fever, raising doubts about his availability.

Pakistan was supposed to download India in the 5th ICC Champions Trophy 2025 match
India and Pakistan should play in the fifth match of the 2025 champion trophy on Sunday, February 2nd, at the International Krixket Stadium in Dubai. The Pakistani team recently arrived in Dubai from Karachi and put rigorous training in nets to prepare for a key encounter.
The match against India is needed to win for Pakistan, who are also defenders. Speaking at a press conference after practice, the temporary main coach Aaqib Javed confirmed the absence of Babar Azama from Nets. He did not give a clear reason, stating only that the former captain decided to rest.
