Arnold Barboza Jr. earns a mandatory challenge for WBO Title Theophimo Lopez

Arnold Barboza Jr. (32-0, 11 ko) is now a compulsory challenger for WBO Light Welterweight Champion Teofimo Lopez after being distributed from 12 rounds on Saturday night at Manchester in Manchester. Barboza manager JR says Theophimo must fight him on Alcatraz Island in June or July.

Alcatraz calls
That would be an interesting fight for former Alcatraz prison. It would be a catastrophe of potentially for Teo to lose to Barbos Jr. on that island and be put in a position in which his contract for three fights with Turki al-Sheikh would be all losses. If you are Turks, hopefully, he put a clause about escaping his contract so he could throw Teofimo out if he loses the fight against Alcatraz.
Barboza Jr. Theophimo would give the similar problems as Jamaine Ortiz last year on February 8th. The difference is that Barboza Jr. would not run out of gas. If Teo wanted to fight Barbosa, he would already be because he was his candidate for first place and invited him. Teofimo will not fight him and knows that this guy is likely to continue where George Cambosos Jr. stopped.
Interestingly, many boxing fans think this would be an easy victory for Teofimo over Barboz, which suggests that they are not familiar with Arnold. If you have seen tonight’s fight and his previous against Jose Ramirez, you will know that he is a nightmare for Teo. This is what Brooklyn, a native of New York, doesn’t want to have anything to do with him.
Teofimo still has no opponents for his next fight, but it was talked about fighting the United match against champion IBF Richardson Hitchins. However, Hitchins’ promoter, Eddie Hearn, says there were no deep conversations for the fight.
Catterall tried well but was lost to the results:
115-113-Barbosa Jr.
115-113-Catterall
115-113-Barbosa Jr.
“We will continue to work and train harder than ever. I’ll be ready for the next,” said Arnold Barboza Jr. press conference after the fight Tonight after the victory of Jack Catterall at the CO-OP Live Arena in Manchester, England.
