“You’re not going to get it”: Teofimo Lopez mocked Richardson Hitchins over belts
Teofimo Lopez showed off his collection of belts at X today and mocked IBF welterweight champion Richardson Hitchins. Lopez (21-1, 13 KOs) let Hitchins know he wasn’t going to win his belts.
Forecast for 2025
The belts that Teofimo showed will likely be gone until his next fight against Hitchins, a nightmare matchup for Theo. This guy is going to do to Teo what George Kambosos Jr. did.
Teofimo is expected to fight two opponents in 2025: Hitchins and Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis. He could first fight Hitchins in the summer and Boots in October. This could be a down year for Lopez, as he’s lost both of his fights, then enters February 2026 with a career fight against either Devin Haney or Ryan Garcia.
Lopez won’t get a lot of criticism from the fans for his loss to Boots Ennis as he would move up to 147 to go up against the best fighter in the division. However, Teo won’t get the same free pass if he gets beat by Hitchins (19-0, 7 KOs) and then gets embarrassed when he faces the loser of the Haney vs. Garcia 2 rematch in February 2026.
Teofimo got a bad rap because he turned down what his promoter, Bob Arum, says was a career-high payday to defend against Subriel Matias. The purse would be big, and he could make more than the PPV. The shrinking looked like a duck move for Teofim, showing that he was scared.
Belt bragging
“Hey, Richardson, you can train now, boy. You’re not going to get it,” said Teofimo Lopez on Xu, showing off his collection of belts and mocking IBF welterweight champion Richardson Hitchins.
“Yo Boots, we’re coming for three,” Teofimo said of his bid to win Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis’ IBF light heavyweight title to become a three-division world champion.
