India’s T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav found himself in a tough spot as he tried to avoid an altercation with his teammates ahead of the second T20I match against England, which starts on January 25 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

Recently, Suryakumar Yadav failed to pick three players who could achieve greatness in T20 cricket despite the current Indian national cricket team boasting of young players. Speaking to Star Sports during their ‘SUPERSTARS’ segment, the Indian captain was asked to pick the players who have the potential to excel in T20 cricket.

Suryakumar Yadav said on Star Sports, “Yeh toh ladai lagwane wali kaam hai [This is something that could start an argument]. It’s really hard; actually it’s a big headache to choose. For me I would say Tilak Varma and Sanju Samson. But don’t make me choose three, yaar! We might even reach 300 in T20Is: Suryakumar Yadav

During the same conversation, Suryakumar Yadav did not rule out the possibility of India scoring more than 300 in T20Is. The Indian captain said that the Indian batsmen are already doing great but if they can play some big shots at the end of the innings, the target of 300 runs is definitely within reach.

Notably, India’s highest total in T20I cricket is 297/6 which they achieved against Bangladesh last year in October. Suryakumar signed off saying, “We have almost reached around 280-285. The batsmen are doing their job and if the bowlers hit two or three sixes in the death, we might even get to 300. There should be some pressure on the bowlers to bat.”

Suryakumar failed to make the Indian ODI squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against England and the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, which is scheduled to begin on February 19.
