West Ham bid for ‘intelligent’ Barcelona ace worth £21m with January contact

West Ham are in talks to sign a midfielder and striker for Graham Potter

According to a reliable club insider former employeethe east Londoners are continuing their negotiations to bring in a new midfielder and striker before the deadline.

It was believed that West Ham have agreed a deal for Ezechiel Banzuziand that news was even reported by Sky Sports, but in the meantime Ex poured cold water and insists that they remain in negotiations with OH Leuven.

“We made an offer two weeks ago which was rejected with his club saying they don’t want to sell him until the summer and will ask for a lot of money to move now.” stated Ex (via West Ham Way).

“Karen Brady was considered to have taken the lead with this transfer and has continued discussions with the player’s agent. We have remained in contact with the club and talks have continued without an official offer being proposed or, of course, accepted from the original offer. This is a transfer that could soon be reconsidered.”

Amidst their pursuit of the Dutch midfielder, it is also believed that West Ham are in talks to sign Andre Silva from RB Leipzig on loan until the end of the season, which may eventually include a purchase option.

“We continued discussions with Andre Silva about a loan until the summer,” again said Ex.

“The loan agreement would potentially have an option at the end to make it permanent. Talks will continue today, but other options are currently being considered. As I have been saying for some time, I think this is the easiest deal to close and we can choose it as an interim measure that could prove beneficial.”

Now, according to journalist Graeme Bailey, West Ham could have the chance to strengthen their defence.

West Ham have offered Barcelona defender Eric Garcia

Writing for The Boot Room, Bailey claims to be a Barcelona defender Eric Garcia appeared as an option for Potter. The Spaniard, a former Man City player, has played a bigger role under Hansi Flick at the Camp Nou this season – leading to reports that Barca could sell him this window in around 21 million pounds.

Garcia was offered to West Ham by intermediarieswho contacted the Irons to inform them of his availability. As well as West Ham, Tottenham, Brighton, Wolves, Newcastle and Aston Villa are also believed to have been approached.

Garcia can actually play in defensive midfield as well, so if a move for Banzuzi doesn’t work out, then the 24-year-old could be a solid alternative.

“Eric is a very intelligent boy – more than a boy,” said the football director of the City Txiki Begiristain. “He is a good character, a solid leader.”
