UnitedHealth taps insider to replace slain CEO of Reuters insurance unit
(Reuters) – UnitedHealth Group on Thursday named Tim Noel, head of its Medicare business, to the top job of its health insurance business, a month after the unit’s former chief executive Brian Thompson was killed.
Thompson’s brazen killing on Dec. 4 sparked a wide-ranging debate about the frustrations of running America’s health care system.
UnitedHealthcare is America’s largest health insurer, providing benefits to more than 50 million Americans.
The company’s shares rose 1.7% to $528.52.
