Man City must finally sell the £50 million star who was “indispensable” to Pep

One of Manchester City’s most experienced players is on the verge of leaving this month, but now is the time to sell.

One player City is close to signing defender Vitor Reis from Brazilian side Palmeiras. Fabrizio Romano has reported that City have reached a verbal agreement on a package under £33m to sign the player. The Blues want Reis to join them immediately, and until the deal is realized, the player still has to undergo a medical and sign a contract.

Reis is not the only defender who is close to coming to the Etihad, as City have also agreed to a contract with Lens Abdukodir Husanov. The Premier League champions have agreed a £33.5m fee with the French side and Khusanov now needs to undergo a medical and complete the necessary paperwork again before becoming a City player.

Txiki is personally leading Man City’s pursuit of a new striker

Guardiola does not want to stop there, because according to Sky Sports German reporter Florian Plettenberg, City and Begiristain are trying to find an agreement to sign Omar Marmoush from Eintracht Frankfurt, hoping to agree a deal worth £59m plus add-ons.

Marmoush, who was called “beautiful” in the past, has become a major target for City in this transfer window. The 25-year-old, who joined Frankfurt on a free transfer in 2023, has been an impressive performer for the Bundesliga side, with 15 goals to his name in 17 league games this season. The forward was in action on Tuesday night and scored one goal and provided two assists as Frankfurt beat Freiburg 4-1.

His performances have put him on City’s target list, and it has been reported that Marmoush and City have already agreed personal terms. However, the amount of the transfer has yet to be agreed, but this is not expected to be a problem, as Plettenberg states that the two clubs are not that far apart now and could even bridge their gap in the next two days.

Bundesliga wants 80 million euros (£67m) for Marmoush, but City’s bid for the striker is below that. The Blues believe they can land their man for a fee in the region 70 million euros (£59m) plus €5-10m in add-ons. Begiristain is looking to find a deal in the next 48 hours and at this stage Marmoush is unlikely to play for Frankfurt against Borussia Dortmund on Friday.
