Trump to send federal DEI staff on paid leave starting Wednesday Reuters
(Reuters) – The Trump administration on Tuesday ordered U.S. federal government departments and agencies to terminate all diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) programs, advising employees of such programs to be placed on paid leave immediately.
The action outlined in a memo from the Office of Personnel Management came a day after President Donald Trump issued a series of executive orders to dismantle diversity programs, which attempt to promote opportunities for women, ethnic minorities, LGBTQ people and other traditionally underrepresented groups.
By the end of business hours on Wednesday, the government should notify employees of all government offices or units focused exclusively on DEI that their programs will be shut down and employees sent on leave, the memo said.
