‘The View’ host Sunny Hostion has broken her silence about her husband’s cheating suit

“The View” co-host Sunny Hostin issued a statement about the insurance accusations of fraud against her husband on Tuesday, claiming the company that filed the lawsuit is known for making frivolous claims.

Hostin made a statement to Entertainment Weekly and said the company, American Transit Insurance Co., a New York-based commercial auto insurance provider that insures Uber, Lyft and taxi companies in the state, filed the lawsuit “to avoid paying for medical and surgical procedures for people who who were sick.”

“This company has a history of filing frivolous lawsuits, has been investigated by the state of New York and has been sued by Uber Technologies,” she added.

Orthopedic surgeon Ph.D. Emmanuel “Manny” Hostin and his practice, Hostin Orthopedics & Sports Medicine, were named among more than 180 defendants in a major federal racketeering-influenced-corrupt-organization, or RICO, case filed in the Eastern District of New York on Dec. 17.

The co-host of “The View” also said, according to Entertainment Weekly, that American Transit is on the verge of bankruptcy.

Emmanuel Hostin is specifically accused of accepting bribes by “conducting operations and falsely billing” American Transit, according to the complaint.

He cites at least two of Hostin’s patients who were allegedly treated in January 2023 after being involved in “low impact” collisions that caused only minimal damage. Despite suffering “nothing more than soft tissue injuries,” both underwent arthroscopic surgery, the lawsuit states.

Sunny Hostin’s statement added that the company “used my celebrity status to launch a vile media smear campaign against my husband.”

“We have notified American Transit and will file a $5 million counterclaim for their defamatory claims, an amount likely to increase as the reputational damage intentionally caused by American Transit is difficult to quantify at this time,” Hostin’s statement continued, demanding that American Transit to “drop these false accusations, pay my husband what he owes and issue a public apology.”

The situation was discussed privately on “The View,” sources told Fox News Digital. So far, Hostin has not addressed the lawsuit on air.

“It’s been discussed internally,” one source told the ABC talk show about the situation, adding, “But nobody’s sure what to do about it.”

The RICO lawsuit is a strategy that legal experts said was designed by Fox News Digital to have a chilling effect on the conduct. It’s also one that risks entangling defendants like Hostin in years of complex litigation—and potentially burdening them with huge payouts as a result.
