VIENNA (Reuters) – The European Central Bank cannot cut rates too quickly given problems including stubbornly high core inflation, policymaker Robert Holzmann said on Tuesday, noting that the next rate decision would depend on then-available data.
“I don’t think we can go lower as flat as it is. Especially since we’ve had problems with inflation recently, and core inflation is still, how should I say, closer to 3% than 2%. We have a lot of energy challenges right now.” , he said at the conference on Central and Eastern Europe.
