The club will ditch the £81k-a-week striker as he is close to joining West Ham

A very intriguing claim appeared on the other side of the channel as West Ham United to look for a new striker for the manager Graham Potterwith the Irons potentially closing in on their replacements for Niclas Füllkrug and Michail Antonio.

West Ham are targeting a new centre-forward after injuries

Summer signing Fullkrug will be sidelined for the foreseeable future after picking up a hamstring problem, while a broken leg sustained in Antonio’s horrific car accident is expected to keep him out for more than a year.

The Hammers are in dire need of a centre-forward.

As a result, Potter is desperately short of natural striker options, with star winger Jarrod Bowen also unavailable to play in a makeshift role – as he often did under Julen Lopetegui before the Spaniard was sacked.

Some good news for West Ham is that Bowen is targeting an earlier than expected return, as confirmed by Potter in a recent press conference.

“I think if you talk to Jarrod he’ll try to tell you he’s ahead of schedule, for sure.” he said Potter on Bowen’s injury. “He is doing everything he can to get on the field as soon as possible. We just need to make sure that it is safe, and it is [in] a good way for him, because we want him back and we want him to stay back.

“But you know Jarrod – he wants to be out there, he wants to play and we’re trying to pull the reins on him, not the other way around. It’s fantastic to have him here.”

While Bowen could be an option in the number nine role sooner rather than later, reports still suggest that Potter is more keen for West Ham to sign a new striker before the deadline.

The Hammers are reliably believed to have an interest in Marseille striker Elye Wahi (Ben Jacobs), while it was reported by Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg West Ham have opened negotiations over the signing of Taiwo Awoniyi.

Andre Silva is “just leaving” RB Leipzig for West Ham

According to German newspaper BILD (via Sport Witness), the RB Leipzig striker Andre Silva is on their list of targets, and is even far more advanced than that.

The outlet boldly claims that Silva is set to leave Leipzig to join West Hamand it is seriously believed that the Portuguese representative is on the verge of a move to the London Stadium.

The 29-year-old will also be left out of the squad for Leipzig’s game against Stuttgart on Wednesday night as a direct result of his waiting Premier League move, so this might be one to watch.

This came after the German media reported intense initial talks by West Ham for Silva earlier this weekso their national press seems to be making a serious noise which is £81,000 a week the striker’s next club could be the Hammers.

The former Leipzig coach called him a striker in “extraordinary condition”. Marco RoseSilva boasts a total of 121 goals in his senior career across spells at a range of top sides.
