Saif said cricket was deeply rooted in his family, treated almost like a religion. Both his father and grandfather captained the Indian cricket team, and his grandfather even played against the legendary Australia dough Don Bradman. Although he also played cricket, he admitted that the mental demands of the game, which require patience and time, were not his strength, ultimately ending his cricketing aspirations prematurely.
“Cricket was in my blood. In my house it was treated as a religion. Not only my father, my grandfather also played for the Indian team. Both were team captains. My grandfather even played against the great batsman Don Bradman. I also played cricket but it is a very mental game. It requires patience and time. I really missed this. Because of this I couldn’t play much and my career in this game was ruined even before I could make it”, Saif said as quoted by SportsTak.
