Suryakumar Yadav fails again as Brydon Carse singles him out in the Chennai T20i
Indian National Cricket Team T20I Captain Suryakumar Yadav’s poor form continued in the second T20I of the five-match series against England National Cricket Team at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chepauk, Chennai on Saturday, January 25.
Suryakumar Yadav once again failed with the bat, as he was dismissed by 29-year-old all-rounder Brydon Carse in the 6th over in the second innings.
Suryakumar Yadav is going through a lean patch
India’s MR 360 has not been in good form with the bat since taking over the leadership of India’s T20I team from Rohit Sharma.
He was in absolutely sensational form in 2022 and 2023, but there was a big dip in his performance in 2024 and things were extremely bad in 2025.
In the T20I series opener against the Three Lions at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, Suryakumar bagged a duck and in the second T20I he returned to the hut after scoring 12 runs off 7 balls, with 3 fours.
On the fourth ball of the 6th year, Brydon Carse collected a 141.9 kmph delivery towards the Indian captain, who tried to flick it to third man but was cramped for room.
Then the ball hit the middle of the bat and then bounced back onto the stumps, and India were within a bit of trouble at 58/3. Overall, in the last 10 T20I innings, he has registered scores of 12 (7), 0 (3), 1 (4), 4 (9), 21 (17), 75 (35), 8 (10), 29 (14 ), 8 (9) and 26 (12).

What happened in the 1st T20I between India and England?
India produced a superb performance to defeat England by 7 runs in the 1st T20I at Eden Gardens, Kolkata.
England batted first and struggled against the Indian bowling unit. Arshdeep Singh gave India an early breakthrough, dismissing Phil Salt and Ben Duckett. Jos Buttler was the lone warrior for England, scoring a brilliant 68 off 44 balls.
However, he didn’t get much support from the other end as Varun Chakravarthy (3/23) ran through the middle order, dismissing Harry Brook, Liam Livingston and the England skipper. Also, Axar Patel and Hardik Pandya contributed with two wickets, restricting England to a total of 132.
In reply, India chased down the target with ease. Abhishek Sharma emerged as the standout performer, smashing a scintillating 79 off 34 balls that included eight sixes and five fours. Despite losing Sanju Samson (26) and Suryakumar Yadav (0) early to Jofra Archer, Sharma’s aggressive knocking ensured that India kept the good rate high and completed the chase in just 12.5 overs.
Mystery Spinner Varun Chakravarthy was named Man of the Match for his outstanding bowling performance.
